Overview

Within the Workflow Queue console, users can view detailed information about the Workflow queues: Xml Queue and Serialized Queue

Details

On the left side of the console, users can view a graph that illustrates the state of the queues. If the items are processed, the queue graphs are displayed in green. For example, if the Service Broker is disabled and the messages from the queues cannot be processed, the queue graphs are displayed in red:

The Queue console is automatically refreshed after 5 seconds, but users can set the refresh interval from the Refresh drop down list:

Note: The Refresh interval is not retained if the Workflow Management Console is closed and reopened.

On the right side of the console, users can view detailed information about the queues:

  • XmlQueueSize/SerializedQueueSize: displays the total number of the items that are in the queue.
  • Items added since last refresh: displays the number of the items that were added in the queue since the Queue console was last refreshed.
  • Items processed since last refresh: displays the number of the items that were processed by the Workflow Service since the Queue console was last refreshed.
  • Estimated time until queue clear: displays the estimated time until all the messages from the queue are processed.

Note: The estimated time until the queue is cleared is calculated based on the fact that the Workflow Service processes 100 messages in around 1 minute.

In the Xml Queue are usually saved messages related to resuming workflows and starting rules. For example, if the Workflow Service is stopped while one or multiple workflows are progressed, the messages remain in the Xml Queue until the Workflow Service starts again to process the messages.

In the Serialized Queue are usually saved messages related to starting and cancelling workflows. For example, if the Workflow Service is stopped while one or multiple workflows are started, the messages remain in the Serialized Queue until the Workflow Service starts again to process the messages.
