This section provides an overview of merge codes.

Overview of merge codes

Merge Codes relate to individual columns of a merge data source.

Examples of Merge Codes are:

  • «CompanyName»
  • «Address»
  • «City» «State» «PostCode»

An example of a merge data source is illustrated below.  It represents a list of creditors as recipients of a mail merge document.

A Merge Code may have different data for each Merge Record in each Output Document, i.e., the creditor’s name «CompanyName» is different for each letter.

Define the merge data source for an output document by selecting the recipients in the Document Merge Options (see below).
